EPP President hopes Armenia’s PM will respect the rule of law and the independence of the legislative
President of the European People's Party (EPP) Joseph Daul insists the civil society manifestations are always legitimate but must not replace or hinder the parliamentary democratic process in the Parliament. Daul’s comments appeared on his Facebook page, following the meeting with the international secretary of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan, who briefed him on the situation in Armenia under the new government.
“Even though the Political Assembly mainly focused on the European elections, we must keep a keen eye on the situation in the Eastern Neighbourhood and this is why I held several meetings on the topic,” Joseph Daul wrote, adding: “I will continue to monitor the situation and I hope that the Prime Minister will respect the rule of law and the independence of the legislative.”
