Zakharova: Russia's stance on Karabakh settlement remains unchanged
Russia's position on the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict settlement has not changed, spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told a weekly briefing on Thursday, 13 September.
“We are naturally following the statements on the Karabakh conflict made in the respective countries," she said, commenting on the question over the possible impact of Armenia’s domestic political processes, as well as the OSCE chief’s recent regional visit on the conflict settlement.
“I would like to remind that Russia’s stance on the conflict settlement remains unchanged. The final status of Nagorno-Karabakh should be determined through political and diplomatic agreements reached between the parties to the conflict,” Zakharova noted.
The spokeswoman noted that Russia, as a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group, continues to mediate between the parties to reach a compromise.
“But, of course, it is for the parties to create appropriate climate for moving forward,” Zakharova said.
