Mothers of the fallen soldiers in the April war join “Women for peace” campaign by PM’s spouse
The mothers of those Armenian servicemen killed in the April four-day war in 2016 have announced a decision to join the “Women for Peace” campaign initiated by Armenia’s PM’s spouse Anna Hakobyan. At the initiative of the mothers a reception was held at the resident of the Prime Minister.
“All women reject the war, welcome and join the peace initiative of the Prime Minister’s spouse. Today, we call for silencing all cannons around the world. It has been thirty years since the Artsakh-Azerbaijani conflict has turned into a deadly grief for Armenian and Azerbaijani mothers. I call on Azerbaijani mothers to join this campaign as well,” the mother of fallen captain Armenak Urfanyan stated in her remarks.
The spouse of the Prime Minister Anna Hakobyan expressed gratitude to the mothers for the decision and initiative to join.
“It is an irrefutable fact that the denouement of the four-day war was largely conditioned with your sons’ heroism and self-sacrifice. No consolation on the earth may ease your sorrow,” Hakobyan said, adding: “Motherhood has no nationality, citizenship, religion, skin color, instead being only about a boundless love, caress, endearment. The loss of a child is a grief that is absolutely the same for all mothers.”
the spouse of the Prime Minister also expressed hope her message will be reached to Azerbaijani mothers to speak against the war and advocate for peace.
“The decision about joining this initiative is upon Azerbaijani women or mothers whether they share our approach or not. Our actions are in no way conditioned with theirs,” said Hakobyan.
To remind, “Women for peace” campaign has the main mission to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, establish peace for the sake of preserving the young lives standing at both sides of the border.
