Serj Tankian shares first trailer for film about devastating quake in Armenia
World-famous Armenian-America singer-songwriter Serj Tankian has posted the first trailer for "Spitak", a new drama about the catastrophic earthquake that shook Armenia on 7 December 1988 claiming several thousand lives (also known as the Spitak earthquake), on his Facebook account.
Tankian is the author of the soundtrack of the award-winning film directed by Russian filmaker Alexander Kott.
“Spitak” is set to hit the big screens in Armenia on 20 September. The film will premiere in Russia in December accompanied by the soundtrack.
The release dates for the film in other countries will be announced as they are confirmed, the musician said.
"Spitak", jointly produced by Armenia and Russia, tells the story of Gor, who left Armenia in search of a better life but now returns back after the earthquake in order to find his home and family. But it is too late. Everything is destroyed by the disaster, and he has to re-learn to love what he destroyed himself.
