Armenian PM: 'We are ready for peace talks, but are also prepared for war’
Armenia is ready for negotiations over Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), but it also prepared for a war, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a Facebook live video on Tuesday night after concluding his visit to Artsakh.
The PM said that he had paid a visit to the Artsakh frontlines accompanied by President Bako Sahakyan and Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan to hold a working discussion.
“The frontline situation is generally tense, but we can still conclude that it is stable and under control. The Armenian armed forces are confidently controlling the situation. We clearly stated that there is absolutely no doubt that our armed forces keep the situation under control, retaliating to Azerbaijani provocations upon necessity,” he stressed.
“But this doesn’t mean we seek war or are pushing for war; we are prepared for negotiations. We discussed that stance with the Artsakh president as well; he is also ready for peace talks. We are ready for negotiations, but we are also prepared for war,” he said, stressing that position should be clear for all.
“We rely on our armed forces, our people and the exceptional unity we observe today,” he added.
