Artur Vanetsyan elected President of Armenian Football federation
The Chief of National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan was elected on Saturday the president of the country’s Football Federation. 24 members of the Executive Committee who were in attendance, voted for Vanetsyan’s candidacy, who was the only nominated candidate for the post.
Following the vote, Vanetsyan made remarks, expressing gratitude to the members and assured to exert every effort for the development of the Armenian football.
“The main principle that will lead, and we are committed to be guide with is the idea that football is for everyone. This means we should consider football as a social project, recalling the fundamental principles laid in the name of our organization. It is named Football Federation of Armenia and not Football Federation of the national team of Armenia or that of Armenian clubs. Based on this, we think football should at all layers and first all in amateur level develop beyond capital Yerevan and go to the marzes,” Vanetsyan said.
To note, former president of the federation Ruben Hayrapetyan, who has served as the head of the federation since 2002, was not present at the meeting.
