Parliament speaker congratulates My Step bloc on winning Yerevan elections
Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Ara Babloyan has congratulated the political forces which have won seats at the Yerevan City Council in Sunday’s elections.
“Though the finals results of the snap elections to the Yerevan City Council have not been summed up yet, we can record based on the preliminary results that the 23 September elections were well organized in general,” he said in a statement on Monday.
“I congratulate the My Step bloc and the bloc’s candidate Hayk Marutyan on the victory in the elections. I also congratulate Prosperous Armenia Party and the Luys bloc on being represented in the Yerevan City Council,” the speaker said, wishing good luck to all the political forces in their responsible task of governing Yerevan.
My Step bloc, led by popular actor and producer Hayk Marutyan, won a landslide victory in the snap municipal elections held in Yerevan on Sunday, garnering 81,06 percent of the votes. Prosperous Armenia Party and the Luys alliance gained 6, 59 percent and 4,99 percent votes, respectively.
