Weapons sold to Azerbaijan targets CSTO member Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov says
Over the recent period Azerbaijani forces have periodically shelled the civilian population of the Armenian border communities which is a gross violation of all international norms, Deputy Speaker of Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov stated on Monday, adding partner countries are expected to condemn that non-constructive policy.
As the press department at the parliament reported, Sharmazanov’s remarks came at a meeting with Belarusian parliamentarians in the scope the 11th session of the Armenia-Belarus interparliamentary committee held in Minsk.
Speaking of the CSTO operations and the regional security, Sharmazanov said: “Security remains a vital issue in our region. Back in 2000, our countries adopted a declaration in the scope of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) that states that military-technical cooperation among the member states should be prioritized, yet even some members of the CSTO continue selling weapons t Azerbaijan. In this regard, I should note that weapons sold to Azerbaijan fires and will probably continue firing on Armenia - as CSTO member state.”
