Armenian, Azerbaijani FMs meet in New York, agree to continue dialogue
Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Elmar Mammadyarov on Wednesday, 26 September, held a meeting in New York, mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stefan Visconti (France), Andrew Schofer (U.S.).
Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk also attended the meeting arranged on the sidelines of the 2018 UN General Assembly, the Foreign Ministry’s press service told Panorama.am.
The meeting first started in an expanded format, followed by a tête-à-tête between Mnatsakanyan and Mammadyarov. The Armenian foreign policy chief reiterated the country’s stance on, and approaches to the exclusively peaceful settlement of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict.
The sides had a useful exchange of thoughts over the conflict settlement aimed at establishing sustainable peace in the region. The FMs agreed to continue the dialogue, including within the frames of the co-chairs' upcoming visit to the region.
