FM presents CoE chief Armenia’s position on Artsakh settlement process
Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Thursday met with Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland in New York on the sidelines of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly.
The two officials highly appreciated the effective cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe and discussed several issues on Armenia’s engagement in the organization, the Foreign Ministry’s press service told Panorama.am.
The Armenian FM and CoE chief also discussed possibilities of finding solutions to a number of issues facing the organization and the efforts to that end.
Mnatsakanyan touched upon the latest domestic political processes in Armenia, the priorities of the new government, including the human rights protection, strengthening of democracy and fight against corruption.
The Armenian foreign policy chief presented Jagland his country’s position on and priorities in the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict settlement process, attaching importance to the creation of an environment conducive to peace, full adherence to the ceasefire regime and refusal from aggressive rhetoric as important tools to advance the peace process.
