PM Pashinyan reveals the initial arrangements reached with Ilham Aliyev in Dushanbe
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that arrangements aimed at reducing tensions across the Artsakh-Azerbaijani Line of Contact have been obtained with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Dushanbe.
Returning to Yerevan from the Summit of Council of CIS Head of States, Pashinyan took to Facebook live to share about the results of his first informal talks with Azerbaijani president.
“This time we had relevantly substantive conversation and as a result, we reached number of agreements. The first relates to the instruction to our ministers of defense to take concrete measures to reduce tensions and prevent border incidents. I think this is an important agreement,” Pashinyan said. In the PM’s words, he has informed the Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan r\about the obtained agreement. “I issued relevant instructions to our Armed Forces and can state that the last night was the calmest across the border since my election as Prime Minister,” Pashinyan said.
During the brief conversation, Pm Pashinyan and President Aliyev have also reiterated commitment to the peaceful settlement of the conflict, “That means the Artsakh issue should be solved through negotiations,” Pashinyan added.
Pashinyan and Aliyev has also agreed on establishing operative communication channel, yet the technical implementation of the channel is yet to be agreed.
“The settlement of the conflict requires favorable atmosphere. When we have shooting on daily basis it is illogic to talk about settlement. I am happy about the reached arrangement and hope they will be maintained,” Pashinyan said.
