Azerbaijan says international community should exert pressure on Armenia
Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov called on international community “to send a strong message and exert pressure on Armenia” with regard to the settlement of the Nagornro Karabakh conflict. As Azerbaijani sources reported, the minister’s remarks came during the speech at the United Nations General Assembly 73rd session.
In the minister’s words, “[Armenia’s] new leadership should understand that their promises to the Armenian people to make Armenia economically developed and prosperous state is not possible without peace, good neighborly with its neighbors.”
"If the new Armenian leadership is calling itself democracy, then they have to act in accordance with the rule of law and democratic values", the minister added.
To note, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on Friday that arrangements aimed at reducing tensions across the Artsakh-Azerbaijani Line of Contact were reached during informal talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Dushanbe. The two leaders, namely, agreed on taking concrete measures to prevent border incidents and establish operative communication channel.
