I had invited Aznavour to Yerevan to attend the Francophone Summit – Emmanuel Macron
French President Emmanuel Macron had invited Charles Aznavour to Armenia to take part in Francophone summit in mid-October, the president tweeted on Monday following the news about the death of the world-known chansonnier.

“I had invited him to Yerevan to participate in the Francophone Summit and in the scope of the event he was about to sing. The French people share the grief of the Armenia people,” Macron tweeted,
In another tweet Macron speaks of Aznavour Armenian roots and world fame.
“Charles Aznavour was profoundly French, deeply attached to his Armenian roots and known throughout the world. He has accompanied the joys and pain of three generations. His masterpieces, the tone of his voice, his unique radiance will long survive him,” the tweet by the French president reads.
