Armenian parliament passes amendments to its rules of procedure
The Armenian parliament adopted in the second reading a draft law proposing amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly in an extraordinary session convened on Tuesday evening.
The bill passed with 61 votes in favour, Yelk faction MP Edmon Marukyan told RFE/RL’s Armenian service after the voting.
He stressed the voting was held with several procedural violations, namely the bill was adopted by a hand voting and not livestreamed by the parliament.
Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called on the citizens of Armenia to gather in front of the National Assembly to protest the adoption of the bill that, according to the PM, is an attempt to prevent the conduction of the expected snap parliamentary elections in Armenia.
A large crowd of people have already gathered outside the parliament to hold a rally.
