Artsakh to declare national mourning on Aznavour’s funeral day
Artsakh will declare Charles Aznavour’s funeral day as a national day of mourning, Artsakhpress reports, citing President Bako Sahakyan’s spokesperson Davit Babayan.
The Armenian government has also decreed a day of mourning on the funeral day of the legendary French-Armenian singer.
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who is currently in the United States, will depart for Paris to take part in the wake and funeral ceremonies of the world famous chansonnier.
Aznavour, 94, passed away on 1 October in his home in southeastern France. An autopsy found the death occurred in the wake of an acute oedema caused by cardiorespiratory failure.
The funeral ceremony will take place on 5 October in Paris.
