Armenia to declare Francophonie summit days non-working
Armenia will declare 11 and 12 October as special non-working days over the upcoming Francophonie summit, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at today’s Cabinet meeting.
The issue, which requires amendments to Armenia’s law on holidays and memorial days, will be discussed at a special sitting of the National Assembly on Friday morning, the PM added.
“Given the large scale of the event, the police also find it right to declare those two days non-working,” Pashinyan said.
Armenia is hosting the 17th Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) on 11-12 October, while the events as part of the summit are set to kick off in Yerevan on 7 October. The summit is expected to bring together some delegations from 80 OIF member states and organizations, including over 25 delegations headed by country leaders.
Armenia is a member of the organization since 2008.
