Live: France pays national homage to beloved singer Aznavour
More than 2,000 people are expected to gather today at Les Invalides, a national monument in the heart of Paris, to pay tribute to legendary French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour, France 24 reports.
French President Emmanuel Macron will deliver a speech at a ceremony to be held in the courtyard of Les Invalides, a complex of buildings and monuments related to French military history.
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are also in attendance of the homage ceremony.
The guests at Aznavour’s tribute include former French presidents, François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy and leading politicians such as Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and National Front party leader Marine Le Pen.
Aznavour died of natural causes in his home in southeastern France on 1 October at the age of 94.
