The Francophonie is united in its diversity – FM Mnatsakanyan
Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan attended today the official opening ceremony of the Francophonie Village in Yerevan. The event was attended by foreign and culture ministers and other representatives of the delegations, attending the 17th Francophonie summit. Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan addressed a welcome speech to the guests.
“Through hosting the Summit of La Francophonie, the history of our ancient capital was enriched with yet another unique and beautiful event. The Francophonie Village is a crossroad for different cultures and civilizations and is a unique gift to the 2800th year old capital, its residents and tourists, to see all the beauties of the Francophone world in one place,” Areyan said.
Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in his speech said: “The Francophonie can be proud of its family which is stronger with its values, represents a mosaic of all cultures - united in its diversity.”
In the minister’s words, the slogan of the Summit “Living Together” is expressed by the governments yet refers first of all to peoples. How beautiful is the world where we can live together, understand each other, live in peace though respecting and acknowledging one another,” the minister said.
To note, the Francophonie village features some 20 pavilions from 20-member states of the organization. The village will operate until October 12.
