BREAKING: 14 lawmakers back Pashinyan’s plan to hold December elections
Fourteen lawmakers mostly from the Republican Party of Armenia faction have signed a petition to hold snap parliamentary elections in December - a plan being pursued by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“We back the position of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on conducting early elections to the National Assembly in December 2018. I voiced my opinion on holding snap elections back in May,” MP Shirak Torosyan told Panorama.am.
Earlier on Monday, Prosperous Armenia Party Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan also backed Pashinyan’s plan to hold snap elections in December.
In a joint memorandum signed after a meeting with the PM, Prosperous Armenia says they will not nominate or endorse any other candidate for the PM’s post after Pashinyan’s expected resignation.
