Human-shaped sculptures unearthed in Artsakh excavations
Excavations of the mausoleum in the area of Karmiravan village of Artsakh Martakert region continue, Artsakh ministry of culture and youth affairs reports on Facebook.
According to the source, Minister Lernik Hovhannisyan visited the site on Thursday to get familiarized with the course of works.
The valley where the works headed by archeologist Nzhdeh Yeranyan are conducted, contains abundant information as the latest excavations have unearthed human-like sculptures that were discovered in their original place and position.
The discoveries at the site suggest the area has been populated at the beginning of the 1st century BC, while large scale excavations and the further research will allow to restore the history and culture of that specific period.
It is noted that excavation works started in April of the ongoing and are carried out by the ministry.
