Top U.S. official convinced Trump-Pashinyan meeting will take place
U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent expressed his strong conviction a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will take place, but could not point out the exact timeframes of the meeting at today’s news conference in Yerevan.
“As diplomats we always support the meetings of our leaders. I am sure that Trump-Pashinyan meeting will take place, but for now, I cannot say when and where. I think the issue will be discussed during the talks between PM Pashinyan and diplomat Bolton,” Kent told reporters.
John Bolton, Assistant to the U.S. President for National Security Affairs (NSA), will visit Armenia on 20 October on the sidelines of his regional visit.
“On October 20th I'll be travelling to Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia to meet with my counterparts and other senior officials to advance American interests on a range of security issues,” Bolton tweeted on Thursday.
