Armenia’s Russian drama theatre has new artistic director
Yerevan’s State Russian Drama Theatre named after Konstantin Stanislavsky has appointed a new artistic director, Fred Davtyan, director of the theatre, told reporters at a news conference on Tuesday, thanking the Ministry of Culture for organizing discussions to assist the appointment.
He said there were five candidates nominated for the post, while only two of them were picked after the hearings – Karen Nersisyan (Russian citizen) and Suren Shahverdyan.
After thoroughly studying the programs of both candidates and watching excerpts from their performances, Davtyan signed an order on Tuesday morning to appoint Nersisyan as theatre’s artistic director.
Karen Nersisyan has started his creative activity at Stanislavsky Russian Theatre, staging diploma performances, the theatre head said. Afterwards, he left for Russia where he has staged nearly 50 plays for various theatres.
