New edition of Super Davit educational e-game launched in Yerevan
“Luse” Rehabilitation center for children with disabilities hosted today the official launching event of “Super David Fire” educational e-game, which was developed in the frames of cooperation between the Save the Children in Armenia, Armenia’s ministry of emergency situations (MES), the RA MES Crisis Management State Academy and Dasaran Educational program. The launching event took place on the International Day for Disaster Reduction.
To note, “Super David” is a series of educational e-games on Dasaran’s electronic platform which is aimed to strengthen disaster risks preparedness among younger generations through innovative experiential learning, empowering school-aged children and communities, in general, with knowledge, skills and attitudes on the local environment and on how to reduce risks, promoting the culture of security and right behavioral norms during emergency situations, as well as encouraging informed and helping children.
Founding Director at Dasaran Educational program Suren Aloyan told reporters that through “Super David Fire” educational e-game the school students will gain knowledge how to prepare themselves in case of fire, while the parents will learn how reduce cases of fire with children’s involvement.
“The primary goal of the game is to teach both school children and their parents first aid delivery methods in case of fire in three different scenarios – fire in forests, in buildings and in transport, specifically in metro. The game is available to download Dasaran Educational program. website and also on Facebook,” Aloyan said.
The spouse of the Armenian president Nune Sarkissian was in attendance. “I was happy to learn that girls are showing more interest which is perhaps explained by their active, interesting, and strong image and style.”
Highlighting the relevance of technology and computer science for the generations in the 21st century, the First Lady added: “I was so impressed by this game that I plan to play with my grandchildren and I am sure they would like it much. This is an international game as the whole world faces similar disasters as result of climate change, the young generation should be aware of and gain necessary skills to face such situations,” added Mrs Sarkissian.
