National Assembly rejects amendments to Electoral Code in the first reading
Armenia’s National Assembly rejected in the first reading the amendments to the country’s Electoral Code during an emergency session held on Monday.
The votes were 56 in favour and 3 against.
To note, the constitutional bill required minimum 63 votes in favor to be adopted as envisaged by the constitution of Armenia
To note, Earlier the government proposed to debate and pass the Electoral Code bill within 24 hours, however after hearing the lawmakers’ objections, It proposed to hold the second reading for the bill within 72 hours after the first reading.
