American helicopters sold to Azerbaijan not for military use – Foreign Ministry official
Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan dismissed on Wednesday media reports on Italy’s possible arms sales to Azerbaijan.
Speaking at a news briefing, she said no reliable source has confirmed the information.
“I would like to stress that the arms race in the region is always on the agenda of the Armenian side. We urge the international community to refrain from actions that will trigger arms race or instability in the region,” the official said.
Reflecting on the sales of U.S.-made helicopters to Azerbaijan, Naghdalyan said the helicopters are for civilian use. “We have been assured that they are civil helicopters intended for emergency situations. They cannot be used for military purposes,” she said.
