Isle of Man Chess: Aronian, Melkumyan chasing the leaders
Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian held to a draw by Vladislav Kovalyov of Belarus in the fifth round of Isle of Man International chess tournament on Thursday. Armenia’s second representative Hrant Melkumyan played draw with Wesley So of the noted States.
Another Armenian player, representing the US, Samuel Sevanyan suffered defeat from Sergey Karjakin of Russia.
After five rounds played, the table is topped by four players with 4.5 points each. Levon Aronian and Hrant Melkumyan are one point behind the leaders.
