First snow of season falls in Armenia’s north west
Armenia’s northwestern region has today received its first taste of snowfall this fall. Snow has fallen in Ashotsk and Amasia communities of Shirak region, as shown by the Facebook photos posted by local residents.
The air temperature is expected to drop to -2 degrees Celsius on Friday night.
Earlier the emergencies ministry warned of a sharp decline in temperatures and strong winds in the wake of a powerful atmospheric front over Armenia caused by the collision of Scandinavian cold air masses and Mediterranean warm and humid air masses on Thursday.
Strong winds up to 25-30 m/s are predicted in Lori, Gegharkunik, Kotayk and Syunik regions on Friday night.
Intense rainfalls with thunderstorms are expected in some regions of Armenia today, the ministry said.
