President: 'Armenia is a gateway to the future'
President Armen Sarkissian of Armenia had today a working lunch with the trustees and members of the advisory council of the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST), among them the leading Armenian scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs from all over the world.
The officials exchanged views on the issues related to the efficient organization of the works of the FAST, discussed conditions necessary for the implementation of the pre-set objectives, mechanisms, and opportunities, Sarkissian’s office said.
Later, the president participated at the opening of the Global Innovation Forum titled “Engineering the Evolution.”
Sarkissian, who is also an honorary member of the FAST Advisory Council, welcomed the participants in the country of the 21st century and stressed the importance of holding such forums in Armenia.
He noted in particular that Armenia is not only a cradle of civilizations but from the very beginning has been a bridge between the East and the West.
“Because this is a gateway, a crossroad I believe, the time has come for the humanity to get back to its sources, to its origins, to Armenia - the birthplace of the human race. A couple of days ago, in Geneva I spoke about the 4th industrial revolution. I my speech I said that there is no revolution, it is an evolution. The humanity, we should make a part of evolution or development. This is not only a scientific and technological evolution but also a rapid evolution of our societies and our activities in the world,” he said.
The president delivered the following message: “Armenia is a gateway to the future. We encourage to make investments in our country – a country which is young, which is ambitious, whose people are talented, whose government is young, a country which lives in the 21st century. Young and mature. To be young means first of all how young one is feeling inside, whether he or she is ready for new discoveries, is ready to learn, is ready to ask questions and find answers, whether you’re ready for research, an evolutional acceleration.
I believe, evolution is endless. We don’t even realize how multifaceted we are; we have discovered only a part of our essence. People are interested in what’s going on outside themselves. However, there is a whole universe within us which is as complicated as the universe itself.
I am confident that the future discoveries in the world will come back to this getaway which is a getaway to the future.
So, welcome to Armenia!”
The president wished efficient works to the participants of the three-day forum.
The forum has brought together leading experts of artificial intelligence, robotics and automated systems, biology, and data science, entrepreneurs, scientists from the scientific and technological centers from over 20 countries.
