Armenia hosting ReAnimania Int. Animation Film & Comics Art Festival
The 10th edition of ReAnimania International Animation Film & Comics Art Festival of Yerevan kicked off in the Armenian capital on Sunday, 28 October.
The festival was inaugurated with a concert titled “ReAs Heart Beats” performed by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra headed by Sergey Smbatyan, featuring classical versions of famous melodies from Armenian animated films.
The concert was supported by the Ministry of Culture and the EU Delegation to Armenia on the sidelines of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the ministry told Panorama.am.
More than 2000 applications from 100 countries have been submitted for the 10th ReAnimania International Festival. Around 400 films, 8 of which are feature ones, are included in the 5 competition programs: “Best Feature Film”, “Best Short Film”, “Best Graduation Film”, “Best Commissioned TV & Educational Film” and “Best Animated Musical Clip”.
Animation du Monde 2018 program aimed at promoting animation and enabling young animators to make their way to the international platform is also organized as part of this year’s festival.
The festival runs through 3 November.
ReAnimania International Animation Film & Comics Art Festival of Yerevan was founded by cartoonist, painter and animator Vrej Kassouny in 2008. The festival has since reintroduced the art of animated filmmaking to Armenian audiences.
It includes a selection of highly anticipated non-commercial features and shorts with 15 in-competition and non-competition programs and a Market Forum for Animation Professionals (MARANI). The festival also offers an array of practical workshops, seminars, master classes and lectures presented by a host of global industry talent.
