Artsakh poet, military Armen Barkhudaryan has published his debut collection of poetry. The book titled “The Island of Lovers” and published by Edit Print publishing house centers around love – the great driving force of life that sometimes takes people to heights or chains them, throwing into the sea of sorrow, Edit Print told Panorama.am.
“The source of my inspiration was world-famous Nobel prize winning novel ‘Love in the Time of Cholera’ and ‘100 Years of Solitude’ by Gabriel García Márquez. ‘The Island of Lovers’ features scenes some of which its readers have certainly witnessed,” the author said.
According to the poet, the book tells about love, joy, betrayal, loneliness, longing, grief, disappointment, happiness, desire to live and win, break up and pleasure of reunion. He says the book is based on the idea that without women the world would be uninteresting, colorless and joyless.
The book features more than 100 poems written by Barkhudaryan in 8 years. Before the release of the book, some of the poems had been published by Artsakh newspaper.
Moreover, in parallel to the poems, Barkhudaryan is also working on his next book, and has plans to write a novel in the future.
