Armenian parliament unanimously adopts amnesty bill
The Armenian National Assembly unanimously adopted in the second reading and in full the amnesty bill at Thursday’s session.
75 MPs voted in favor of the draft law, with no votes against or abstentions.
The bill passed the first parliamentary reading on Wednesday. It is dedicated to the 2800th anniversary of Yerevan and the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia.
The measure seeks to pardon some 6,500 convicts – the largest amnesty in Armenia over the past few years.
The amnesty does not apply to inmates who have committed serious crimes.
