Republic Party to run for parliament in December elections
The Republic (Hanrapetutyun) Party has announced its decision to take part in the early parliamentary elections slated for 9 December, Aram Sargsyan, the head of the party, said in a Facebook post.
The party will run in the snap polls alone and not ally with any other political force, he said.
Sargsyan expressed gratitude to all those who believed in the mission and success of the Luys bloc formed in alliance with Bright Armenia (Lusavor Hayastan).
“I apologize that the bloc doesn’t exist anymore. Believe me, we shall act in the best interests of the state and people as separate forces as well. There is no alternative to this issue,’ he said.
“The Republic Party will take part in the snap parliamentary elections to carry out its programs and ideas. The rest is coming soon,” Sargsyan said.
In a statement on Sunday, Bright Armenia said after long discussions with the Republic party it had decided to run in the December elections alone with its own vision and programs. The two parties joined efforts to create Luys bloc for the Yerevan City Council elections.
Meantime, Bright Armenia says that the cooperation with Republic will continue in the council within the Luys bloc.
