Shant Harutyunyan set free
The Chairman of "Tseghakron" Party Shant Harutyunyan has already been set free.
"The amnesty has begun in penitentiary institutions, Shant Harutyunyan is now free," the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Department of the Ministry of Justice informed Panorama.am.
The law on amnesty declared on the occasion of the 2800th anniversary of the foundation of Erebuni-Yerevan and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the First Republic of Armenia has come into force today. Amnesty will be applied to 6500 people.
By the decision of October 17, 2014, taken by the Court of First Instance of Kentron and Nork Marash administrative districts, the leader of "Tseghakron" Party Shant Harutyunyan was sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment. Shant Harutyunyan was charged with "committing hooliganism with a group of people, using an object seen as a weapon, as well as showing resistance to a representative of the authorities".
