Armenia’s Acting Foreign Minister: Armenia committed to the peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
On November 7, the Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who arrived in Astana to participate in the joint session of the Councils of Foreign Ministers, Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO member states, met with Chingiz Aidarbekov, the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, the Foreign Ministry’s press office informed.
The Acting Minister Mnatsakanyan congratulated his counterpart on his appointment, wishing him success in his important mission. The Armenian Acting Foreign Minister reiterated the readiness of the Armenian side to undertake joint steps towards identifying new areas and ways of cooperation. The sides agreed that the experience accumulated in twenty-five years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries serves as a solid basis for further deepening and expansion of bilateral cooperation in various fields, highlighting in this regard the innovation, high technologies and creative education as new directions.
Foreign Ministers also focused on the issues related to the expansion of the bilateral legal framework, intensification of trade and economic ties and cooperation within international platforms.
The sides also discussed the agenda of the joint session of the CSTO member states Foreign Ministers Council, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils, as well as a number of issues related to the CSTO summit and the documents to be adopted.
The Acting Minister presented the internal political developments in Armenia and the reforms that are being implemented by the Government aimed at fighting corruption, strengthening the rule of law, ensuring equal conditions in the socio-economic sphere.
Touching upon Armenia's position and approaches with regard to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia underscored the commitment of the Armenian side to the exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship.
