Gyumri Fine Arts Academy holding charity exhibition-sale to help sick student
A charity exhibition-sale has opened at the Gyumri branch of the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts since 7 November to raise money for the treatment of one of the academy’s sick students.
The exhibition organized by the students features artworks by the Gyumri academy's students and alumni.
Speaking to Panorama.am, Anahit Matevosyan, the head of the student council of the Yerevan Fine Arts Academy's Gyumri branch, said the exhibition-sale has already raised 200,000 drams after selling 10 works.
“We are looking forward to receive new guests, hopefully more works will be sold,” she said, adding the fact that the proceeds from the event will go to help a sick student excites the visitors of the exhibition even more.
Matevosyan also informed that the photos of all the works showcased at the exhibition-sale, as well as their prices are posed on the Facebook account of the Gyumri Fine Arts Academy, adding two works have already been sold online.
She says the prices for the artworks have been set by the students themselves with the support of the lecturing staff.
Matevosyan says she paid a visit to the sick student on Sunday. “She is now in a stable condition and will undergo a surgery on Monday,” she noted.
According to the student council head, at first, she wasn’t aware that the academy students had donated blood and collected money for her treatment.
“Later, she found out. She is like, ‘I don’t want to trouble any of you.’ But she would rush to help if any of us found ourselves in a similar situation,” she stressed.
The exhibition runs through 15 November.
