Minsk is ready to nominate three candidates for CSTO Secretary General
Minsk is ready to nominate three candidates for CSTO Secretary General, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Belarus Latif Gandilov on 12 November, "TASS" reported.
"The next country in the alphabetical order is Belarus, and we have to be prepared to offer our candidate, and I have three candidates for that position," he said.
Lukashenko noted that they do not intend to violate the rights of Armenia.
"Pashinyan should deal with the situation in the government in his country. Armenia is leading the EAEU and the CSTO - it is a huge burden for the country which is at the stage of transition. Will Armenia be able to cope with this? "he said.
According to Lukashenko, if Pashinyan makes up his mind and responds, it will be a matter of days.
"We will meet in St. Petersburg, and we will make a decision then," Lukashenko said.
The latter informed the Azerbaijani diplomat that the issue of CSTO Secretary General was discussed in Astana on October 8, just for about 15 minutes.
"I am now informing you about all of this so that you know because, unfortunately, you have complicated relations with Armenia," said Lukashenko in his address to the Azerbaijani Ambassador.
Earlier it was announced that the CSTO Secretary General's election would be discussed on December 6 in St. Petersburg. Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan are member states of the organization.
