Stepantsminda-Lars road open – embassy
There are no vehicles stuck on the Georgian side of Stepantsminda-Lars highway, the Armenian Embassy in Georgia says, after contacting both the Georgian and Russian checkpoints.
“Meantime, the Russian side reports a congestion of cargo trucks since midday November 11,” the embassy said in a statement.
The Armenian Embassy also denies reports alleging Armenian drivers have been stuck on the border for three days.
Meantime, Armenia’s Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies says as of 11am Monday Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.
“In the direction from Russia to Georgia, there is a nearly 2-km long traffic jam, mainly because of cargo trucks transporting grain. According to the received information, the Armenian vehicles comprise 1/5th in the line,” the ministry said.
