Armenia's acting social welfare minister steps down for snap elections
Armenia’s Acting Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mane Tandilyan has tendered her resignation to take part in the early parliamentary elections on 9 December.
In a Facebook post announcing her resignation, Tandilyan summed up her six-month tenure, stressing she was guided by a high responsibility to contribute to reforms in the sector and social welfare of the Armenian citizens.
“Trying my utmost during this period, I succeeded in registering small positive changes that are still insufficient to ensure social welfare but serve as a basis for further global and institutional success,” she wrote.
“Today I am quitting as caretaker minister to participate in the elections by the Bright Armenia party list. The upcoming elections are of key importance for Armenia; they will form a parliament reflecting the real voice of the people,” Tandilyan said, expressing gratitude to the prime minister for the trust.
She also thanked her colleagues in the government for interesting and productive work.
“In case of receiving a vote of confidence by the people, I am ready to continue my political activity as an MP. I will always stay focused on social reforms and concerns of our citizens,” she added.
