Acting Minister: From 2019, a system of agricultural insurance to be introduced
ARF MP Ruzan Arakelyan is concerned that there is no concept for proportional development of the regions in the next year's budget.
"Of course, I know that this is a relevant issue for the government, but I have not seen a concept. We want to encourage labor, but where do we encourage it? In the village where only elderly people live? In the regions, where 60-70% of young people have emigrated? We have deserted villages and ones which are in the process. If we encourage work, but there are no people who will work, then the idea remains unfinished, hangigng in the air. If we encourage small and medium-sized businesses and there are no young people who will engage in business, who is this program for?" the MP said at the NA sitting Wednesday.
The MP also highlighted the issue of repatriation. She noticed that the current government, speaking of repatriation, means only the diaspora, but during the recent 10-15 years the middle-aged generation has immigrated.
"The young people should understand what to expected and what privileges would be granted to them if they return to Armenia. Only tax privileges do not solve the repatriation problem. I hope we will have a concept for repatriation that will inspire our compatriots, "he said.
Touching upon the development of agriculture, the MP stressed that she does not see any strategic steps in this direction. She reminded that in a number of countries the law on agricultural insurance is being implemented.
Gegham Gevorgyan, the acting Agriculture Minister, responded to the MP's observations, noting that a number of programs were planned to be implemented through grants, and from 2019 a system of agricultural insurance will be introduced.
"There will be a pilot program in two or three regions," said the acting minister.
