350 vacancies presented at Yerevan career and entrepreneurship fair
U.S. Embassy-funded career and entrepreneurship fair kicked off at the Marriott Hotel in Yerevan, Armenia, on Friday as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week.
The fair aims at helping job seekers meet employers and enabling companies having vacancies to recruit professionals that meet position requirements.
Project coordinator Haykuhi Gevorgyan stressed this is a platform for job seekers and workers to be employed or promoted in their career. She said 350 open jobs in various spheres, including in the IT, tourism and service sectors, are already presented at the fair.
“Companies not only need quality professionals, but also allow novices to work in their companies. Also, there are organizations that offer internship to students,” she said.
Highlighting the organization of the fair, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Rafik Mansour said the event gives students a chance to get acquainted with educational opportunities and employers – to meet their potential employees.
“During my time in Armenia I have come to admire the creative and innovative spirit of the Armenian people,” Mansour said. “The Armenian economy has great potential to grow and diversify, and it is young entrepreneurs like those here today who will help drive that change in the years to come.”
Representatives of the companies presented in the fair expect to employ best professionals to fill the vacancies in their companies through the event.
Speaking to Panorama.am correspondent, Melante company manager Sona Marabyan said their companies that has operated since 2002 today needs quality specialists.
“We need f tailors, computer designers and cutters at the moment. We plan to become a brand in Armenia equal to major brands in the world, thus we are expanding the circle of our activity and need good specialists. I want to tell young men that they can achieve great results in our company: we really need them,” she said.
These companies are encouraged by the outcome of last year’s fair, where 14 companies received 405 applications for 88 vacancies, with 41 percent of the applicants meeting position requirements employed by the companies.
