Municipality to launch large-scale inspections at Yerevan Zoo
The Yerevan Municipality says it will carry out large-scale inspections at the Yerevan Zoo given the ‘latest developments around the zoo, certain public concerns, the protests, the reports of former employees and social media talk.’
The inspections will kick off next week to cover all functions related to the zoo, the city hall said in a statement.
A large group of people, including current and former employees of the Yerevan Zoo, staged a protest in front of the zoo on Saturday, demanding the resignation of its Director Ruben Khachatryan.
The demonstrators citied Khachatryan’s poor knowledge in the sphere and bad work style as the reason behind the protest campaign.
The protests will continue until the director steps down, one of the participants said.
