CIS observation mission to start its work in Armenia on November 22
CIS observation mission to the snap parliamentary elections in Armenia will start works on November 22, Deputy Executive Director of the CIS Executive Committee Victor Guminsky, who will head the mission, said, according to BelTA.
He noted that the delegation will meet with the CEC leadership. The delegation will consist of about twenty long-term observers.
"As a rule, they are representatives of CIS member states. In total, the delegation will consist of 70 people, both from the CIS institutions and from the Russian and Belarusian parliaments. I think that such a number of observers will allow the delegation to be fulfi its mission, "he said.
According to Victor Guminsky, they will be guided by the Armenian legislation, as well as the conventions of democratic elections, electoral rights and freedoms.
"Of course, we will not interfere with the country’s internal affairs and will provide an objective assessment. We assume that the pre-election campaign in Armenia is carried out in a good atmosphere in accordance with the country’s legislation, "he said.
The source reminds that Armenia has not sent an invitation to the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the CEC of Ukraine to observe the snap elections as this country refused to participate in observation missions in 2015.
The snap parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on December 9. The pre-election campaign will start on November 26.
