Lithuania to consider leaving Interpol
Lithuania may consider leaving the Interpol if the Russian representative is elected head of the organisation, the Seimas of Lithuania has adopted a corresponding resolution today, according to TASS.
“If The Russian representative is elected head of Interpol, Lithuania, together with other democratic states, will have to immediately consider the possibility of leaving the organization,” the resolution said.
They urged Interpol representatives "not to support the candidate from a non-democratic state".
Former Interpol Chief Meng Hongwei resigned in October. Moscow hopes that the Russian candidate Alexander Prokopchuk will win the Interpol elections which are due on November 21. Prokopchuk has been the deputy chief of Interpol since 2016.
