Armenians light candles to honor late 23-year-old ballet dancer
Armenians have laid flowers and lit candles in front of the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet named after Alexander Spendiaryan since Wednesday morning in memory of late ballet dancer Vahagn Margaryan who died on Tuesday, two weeks after suffering serious injures in a car crash.
A memorial service for the artist will be held since 6pm Wednesday in the village of Apaga in Armenia’s Armavir region, while his funeral ceremony will take place on Thursday.
The 23-year-old dancer of the Yerevan Opera Theater was left in a coma after a devastating car crash on Yerevan-Ashtarak highway on 6 November. He was reportedly in a severe condition.
Margaryan won the key prize at the 4th International Baltic Ballet Competition held in Latvia’s capital city of Riga in June. He also represented Armenia at the Eurovision Young Dancers contest.
