The bill on the relocation of Armenian Presidential Residence adopted at first reading
"The government, headed by the prime minister, believes that the prime minister can carry out the government's activities and the co-ordination of government members through one seat," Acting RA Deputy Minister of Justice Artur Hovhannisyan said today at the extraordinary session of the parliament during the discussion of the draft law on Making Amendments and Additions to the RA Law on "Ensuring Activities, Services and Social Guarantees of Officials".
He mentioned that the presented bill proposes to move the residence of the President of Armenia to a building located in 26 Baghramyan Street, Yerevan, from 47 Mashtots Avenue, and the Prime Minister's residence from 26 Baghramyan Street to the Republic Square, Government House 1.
"Besides, we find that the historical building of 26 Baghramyan Street, which also served as the presidential residence in 1992, should be returned to the RA President, who is the head of the republic under the amended Constitution," added Hovhannisyan.
Immediately after the discussion, the bill was put to the vote and was adopted at first reading with 55 votes in favor, 0 against and 2 abstentions.
