Ethnic minority reps. included only in 3 Armenian political forces’ election lists
Only three out of eleven political forces running in the snap parliamentary elections have involved representatives of ethnic minorities in their election lists, a study by Panorama.am shows.
Ethnic minority representatives are running as MPs by the election lists of the My Step bloc, Bright Armenia and Rule of Law (Orinats Yerkir ) parties.
The study has revealed that the election list of My Step bloc includes the greatest number of ethnic minority members.
The bloc’s list features Yazidi Rustam Bakoyan, a resident of Nor Kyank village of Armenia’s Ararat region who is a member of acting PM Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party, Russian non-partisan Alexey Sandikov, Assyrian MP Arsen Mikhaylov and Kurdish non-partisan Knyaz Hasanov.
Bright Armenia’s list includes Yazidi nationals Manuel Shakroyan and Karen Dukoyan and Assyrians Irina Gasparyan and Araksya Avchieva, while Russian Susanna Melkonyan is included in the Rule of Law’s election list.
The early parliamentary elections are scheduled for 9 December in Armenia, with the election campaign to launch on 26 November.
