Suspected corrupt MP to be named after NSS receives necessary documents, chief says
The identity of the Armenian lawmaker involved in a corruption scandal will be disclosed to the public after the National Security Service officially receives important documents, the head of the structure, Artur Vanetsyan told reporters on Wednesday.
He did not comment on the question why the security structure has not received the necessary paperwork yet. “As soon as we receive them, I shall tell you why they are late,” he said.
Vanetsyan didn’t elaborate on the report on the basis of which they have opened the criminal case against the MP.
Meantime, he neither confirmed nor denied the media reports alleging the case refers to MP Aram Harutyunyan, the former nature protection minister of Armenia.
“Wait for a short period of time and you will get all the answers,” he said.
Addressing the parliament earlier in October, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said a criminal case has been launched against one lawmaker involved in a bribery case. He said that ‘this will be the largest bribery case’ in the history of Armenia.
