Renowned photographer Martin Shahbazyan dies at 78
Famous Armenian photographer Martin Shahbazyan has passed away at the age of 78, the photographer of Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, David Hakobyan confirmed to Panorama.am.
The cause of the retired photographer’s death was not immediately clear.
Born on 25 June 1940 in Yerevan, Shahbazyan’s career highlights include many years of work at a number of Armenian media outlets (including Armenian service of Novosti agency and Armenpress) and presidential office (2001-2010).
TASS Russian state news agency named Shahbazyan its best photo correspondent three times. His photo dedicated to the victims of the 1988 devastating Spitak earthquake was named Photo of the Year by Reuters American news agency.
He took part in many international and local photo exhibitions, holding solo exhibitions in several countries.
