Freight volumes up 7.8% in Armenia in nine months
Armenia saw a strong growth in freight volumes in the first nine months of this year, according to the latest statistics.
The freight volumes totaled to 21,680,700 tons in Armenia from January to September 2018, showing a growth of 7.8% against the same period last year, the Statistical Committee told Panorama.am.
According to the figures, the increase was mainly prompted by the rise in motor vehicle freight volumes. In particular, the volume of automobile freight amounted to 18,266,000 tons in nine months, up by 8.2% from the same period of 2017.
The rail freight volumes comprised 2,155,100 tons in the reporting period, showing a 9% growth from last year.
According to the statistics, the highway pipeline freight shipping made up 1,246,600 tons (growth rate not unchanged) and the air freight volumes amounted to 13,000 tons (24% decline) in January-September 2018.
