Arman Tatoyan Receives Head of OSCE / ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Armenia
Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received today the Head of OSCE / ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Armenia Urszula Gacek, the HRD office informed.
Arman Tatoyan informed that a working group was set up to conduct independent monitoring of the electoral process within the scope of the law reserved for the preparation and conduct of snap elections of the National Assembly on December 9.
The Human Rights Defender noted that during the campaign period and on election day, the working group will daily monitor the mass media publications on alleged violations of electoral rights. At the same time it will ensure the proper discussion of verbal and written complaints addressed to the Ombudsman, including hotline alerts. The group will also be responsible for legal counselling, citizens' receptions and quick response visits.
The Head of the OSCE / ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Armenia highlighted the role of the Human Rights Defender in the issue of guaranteeing the right of people to vote.
